Military Jackets

This style is definitely for girly girls. If you are tomboyish, I would avoid this style; it will only make you look butch.
I was lucky enough to find a pea coat on craigslist of all places for $15 that fit the military look. Apparently, it had been purchased a couple of years ago, so I can't find it online, but I'll try to upload some pics.
I searched the web for some inexpensive military-esque jackets, and this American Eagle one is my fav! It's adorable and has a great shape to it. I also love the extra-long sleeves and the collar! This is an awesome jacket for only $40. Find it here...

Chunky Knits!

I LOVE cuddling up in a sweater when it's super cold outside, so one of this years fashion trends that I am most excited about is the chunky knit. You can rock the knits by wearing a sweater, scarf, hat, or sweaterdress! The chunky knit is NOT about looking sexy, so have fun with it! (The sweater in the picture is actually really sexy, though.)
The easiest way to incorporate the chunky knit is with a scarf. You can find chunky knit scarves at Fred Meyer for less than $20 (which still seems a bit pricey to me for a scarf) or if you are so inclined, you can knit one yourself! Michael's craft store has lots of thick yarn for less than $10 in a variety of colors! Make one for yourself and then make more to give as gifts this winter! It's a great way to save money on gifts and give your friends something stylish and sentimental!

Skinny Jeans!

At first, I was opposed to skinny jeans because they seemed to only be worn by hipster boys and were always paired with chucks. However, once I found out that skinny jeans don't just come in black, I opened my arms (and my jean drawer) up for a pair. Since this style hasn't been around very long, it is hard to find skinny jeans at consignment shops or thrift stores, where I do most of my shopping. So for this style, I had to buy new. I found a great selection at Ross, priced anywhere from $8 to $25. The pair I walked away with were $10! And they are supercute. What I looked for was a dark, even wash, stretchy material, and extra leg at the bottom.
What we all love most about jeans is their versatility! This is true for skinny jeans as well; they fit almost any style!
Casual: Skinny jeans with boots and a sweater! Flirty: Skinny jeans with flats and a t-shirt! Sexy: Skinny jeans with heels and a flowing top!!!
My favorite skinny jean look: For a night out last weekend, I wore my skinny jeans with a fabulous, flowy top and purple pumps. I pulled the cuffs of my jeans down over the back of my shoes so they were peeking out below. Unfortunately, I don't have any pics. :(

Winter 2009/2010

Let's talk about some of the current fashion trends! Some of the styles are just plain ugly, and will therefore be ignored (for instance, the 'big shoulder' trend. ew.). As I find new trends, though, I will post about them and try to find great deals on style pieces. These posts will include (but are not limited to); skinny jeans, military coats, patterns, colors, boots, and chunky knits.
If you see a style somewhere that you're not sure how to create, post a comment with a link or describe the style and I'll try my best to help!

Hiya!

Hello everyone! My name is aj and my hope for this blog is to help young ladies like myself be smarter about spending money on clothing! We all know that the economy totally sucks right now, so almost everyone is cutting back on spending here or there. If you're like me, you said "but I don't want to sacrifice my style!!!" Well, you don't have to! You just have to be a little bit more creative about it.
